About Me
My story begins in Central Illinois. I was surrounded by music my whole life and through this journey, I made a lot of lifetime friendships with musicians. This being the case, the band, The Fears of John, was born. I was never actually in the band and truth be told, I can play several instruments, but I never put the time in to become a decent musician.
My passion for woodworking goes back to high school shop class. I almost didn’t graduate because I had taken woodworking class multiple times and only got credit for it once, leaving me with an insufficient amount of credits to graduate.
I have a certificate in manufacturing and an associate’s degree in maintenance technology. This is where the fascination for electronics came from. I was on my way to an engineering degree, but I stopped short of finishing the program when a conversation with my friends took place about why I never built a guitar. That day I decided to do something different, and a new education of building guitars began. I had never given up on my passion for woodworking and during the pandemic when the stay-at-home order was in place, it gave me plenty of time to try new builds, creating something new each time, and mismatching all kinds of different designs. This is when J.c.Fears Guitars began.
